The company Carl F. W. Borgward GmbH was founded in 1949 and was the first German firm to market an automobile with a ponton body. Borgward grew to become a large company and was Bremen's largest employer. In 1961 however, the company experienced financial difficulties that could not be overcome and eventually led to the company's collapse. The history of the Bosch Isabella TS limousine is fully documented; it was delivered to Stockholm, Sweden in 1959 and was licensed on August 13, 1959. In 1998, the Isabella found its way back to a collector in Bremen who then sold the meticulously maintained Isabella to Robert Bosch GmbH in 2003. Since then, the Isabella has appeared at many major classic car rallies such as the Bosch Boxberg Klassik.
